Rain Plan:
As of this moment there is only a 20% chance of rain in the early hours and the sun is scheduled to come out at 7:00 Saturday for a beautiful (but maybe soggy) day. We will make the rain call at 5:30 Saturday morning. If we are postponing to Sunday you will receive an email from us at 5:30. We will also be posting updates on facebook, twitter, and on www.artsfestwinstonsalem.com. If you do not hear from us, ARTSfest is on!Please email if you have any questions or concerns, ws.artsfest@gmail.com.

Meet the Jury!
The Historic West End ARTSfest announces the jury panel for the 2011 artist selection process. The application window for artists is open until July 1, 2011. ARTSfest is scheduled for Saturday, September 24th, from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., with a rain date of Sunday, September 25th. The four-juror panel consists of award winning art professionals who are first-time jurors for the Historic West End ARTSfest. Meet the 2011 Jurors:

Sara Sloan Stine Stine has a BFA in Art & Design from Iowa State University, with a concentration in Craft Design and an emphasis in Metals. She has been Metals/Glass/Wood Program Coordinator at the Sawtooth School for Visual Art since 1987. Sara is a certified PMC Instructor and teaches jewelry fabrication and PMC classes across NC. She was past Metals Technician at the Parson’s School of Design summer program in Lake Placid, NY. She is a founding member of the North Carolina Society of Goldsmiths and served on their board for many years.

Sharon Hardin Hardin has worked as an
Artist-in-Education with state Arts Councils in Illinois, South
Carolina and Georgia. As a Board Member, Exhibition Chair and Jury
Committee Chair for Associated Artists of Winston-Salem, Hardin has
participated in organizing community art exhibits. She has curated
several area exhibitions, including Downtown Arts District
Association (DADA) at Salem College. Hardin taught for nine years as
an Adjunct at the North Carolina School for the Arts, and is
currently an Adjunct Professor of Art at Salem College and
Coordinator of the Davis Gallery of the Sawtooth School for Visual
Art. |

Tamara & Ron Propst The Propsts are from Hickory, NC, and attended art school at East Carolina University in the 60’s. Ron became a resident at Penland School of Crafts in 1967. After his residency, he established his own studio by the Toe River Bridge at Penland. The Probsts moved to Winston-Salem and became the reproduction potters for Old Salem. Ron also studied in depth the tile-making and production of the tile stoves that the early Moravians used. In 1983, Ron moved his studio to 6th Street in the space where 6th & Vine is now located. Tamara was the Centershop Manager at the Southeast Center for Contemporary Art (SECCA). The Probsts own The Other Half Gallery on Trade Street, Winston-Salem. |

B. Jane Doub BCA UNC-Charlotte, working fiber artist since 1980 specializing in handwoven garments; Fiber Program Coordinator for Sawtooth School for Visual Art 1982 – 2004; co-owner of Fiber Co. (cooperative studio/gallery in Winston-Salem’s Arts District) since 1987; President and CEO of Piedmont Craftsmen, Inc since 2005. Has served on a variety of non-profit and community service boards and committees, including the Arts Council of Winston-Salem/Forsyth County, Leadership Winston-Salem, Community Appearance Commission of Winston-Salem/Forsyth County, Co-chair of the Piedmont Triad Partnership’s Creative Enterprises and the Arts Roundtable . Winston-Salem’s 2006 Artist of the Year, sponsored by Sawtooth School for Visual Art. |

ARTSfest 2011 Terms & Conditions |
Date: September 24, 2011, 10-5 Rain date: September 25, 2011, 10-5 Special Notice: We're nearing the end of our Call for Entry!
As of July 1st. midnight the
following media's are closed: jewelry, photography,
fiber[clothes] and paintings.
We have limited openings in
pottery/ceramics, mixed media and wood.
We are still accepting entries for
metal, glass and sculpture.
All media's will close on July 20th
at midnight.
All July 20th entries will receive
notification by Aug 1st. Booth fee's will be due by Aug 15th.
Application Fee: $25.00 non-refundable
Only those applicants who submit by the June 1, 2011 are
eligible for the Cover Award. The artist chosen for this award will
have a jury selected piece of their art on all ARTSfest poster's,
postcard's, and t-shirts. The Cover Award artist is also promoted in
